Job Fair

Event Time Wednesday, May 11, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The job fair is for workers seeking internships, apprenticeships, entry‐level, and professional‐grade positions. The morning will
focus on high school students looking for part‐time/seasonal, apprenticeships, and career‐path opportunities as well as
veterans. All high schools in area will be attending. The remainder of the day will be open to the general public. Job seekers are
encouraged to bring their polished resumes.
The event is seeking employers hiring in 2016 for internships, apprenticeships, entry‐level, and professional‐grade positions.
Employers can sign up at http://jcedcjobfair.eventbrite.com. Space is limited and is available to employers on a first come, first
serve basis. Registration for mid‐large sized businesses (+5 or more employees) is $75. Registration for small sized businesses
(5 or less) is $50. For small businesses wanting to post open‐positions there will be a job board to post openings for free. Send
inquiry for this option to Genevieve Coady at genevievec@jcedc.net.
Genevieve Coady, JCEDC Executive Director, said, “Our area is experiencing a significant number of layoffs including Tyson,
McCain, Eaton, and others – but the workforce is set to grow by nearly 1,000 jobs in the next year or so. This fair is critical in
connecting our employers to the workforce needed. Recruitment and retention of quality workforce has been the number one
issue heard from area companies.”
“With unemployment rates wavering between 3‐5% in our area we are nearing max employment for the workforce,” notes
Benjamin Wehmeier, Jefferson County Administrator. “This job fair aims to connect more highly‐skilled workers to the positions
they seek in our area.”
The JCEDC is asking area partners to help get the word out about the event to area employers and job seekers. Flyers for
distribution can be downloaded at: http://jcedc.net/businesssolutions/jobfair.php
All proceeds from the event will be used for marketing of the event to recruit job seekers from both within Jefferson County but
also its environs surrounding the area as well. Networking with employers will also be encouraged at booths.
The event will be at the Creamery Building in Fort Atkinson (201 N Main St, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538) on the second and third
floors. Dedicated parking has been set aside for the event ‐ attendees are asked to park in City Lot 4 on the corner of Sherman
& Main Street in Fort Atkinson so that there is not strain placed on downtown businesses with their customers and employees.
